What is VBC©?
VideoBased Counseling or VBC©, is a
form of E-Therapy. VBC© uses the latest technology to make counseling
available and FREE to everyone. There are different forms of
E-Therapy:
-
E-mail Therapy
-
Phone Therapy
-
Chat Therapy
While these forms of therapy can be
effective, there is one missing component...the connection between client and
counselor. VBC© retains the connection between client and counselor in a
similar fashion as face-to-face therapy. This helps make your counseling
sessions more EFFECTIVE while still being more CONVENIENT than scheduling
traditional face-to-face therapy. VBC© is not limited to only the video
side of counseling. VBC© can also incorporate Chat and E-mail therapy to
further enhance your counseling experience. VBC© is also the most secure
form of E-Therapy. Chat and E-mail records can be hacked into and viewed, and phone
transmissions provide low level security. With VBC© there are no records
kept on a computer, all information concerning clients are kept in a locked file
cabinet, just as it would be with face-to-face therapy. VideoBased
Counseling also uses HIPAA standards and practices concerning the privacy
of client information. When comparing VBC© with the other forms of
E-Therapy, you will see that VBC© is a much more SENSIBLE option.
How
Does VBC© Work?
-
The
first step begins with you taking a look at your life, relationships and
general mood. Are there other areas that seem to cause you
difficulties? Any that could use some shifting? Sometimes you
don't know what needs changed, but you know you aren't as happy as you would
like to be.
-
You
will set up an initial appointment with your video counselor through either
phone or e-mail contact. All inquiries will be responded to in a
professional, timely manner.
-
Your
counselor will e-mail you a questionnaire concerning both your mental and
physical health. It is important that the counselor rule out physical
reasons for why you're feeling the way you are. The questionnaire and
other necessary paperwork are to be filled out and e-mailed back to your
counselor prior to your first appointment. This allows your
counselor to review your needs and concerns and be fully prepared for your
first session.
-
During your
first session, discussion of problems and concerns that brought you to seek
assistance will be discussed fully from the questionnaire you filled out and
e-mailed back to your counselor. The initial session is called an
intake and information will be discussed concerning family history,
problem(s) history and other background information in order to understand
who you are and what your specific strengths are that could be applied to
solutions. At this time, it's important to ask
questions about the counseling process and any other information you would
like to know. You will be referred to another counselor or resource if
it is determined that VBC is not for you.
-
In
subsequent sessions, goals and treatment methods will be explored and a plan
jointly developed and agreed upon.
-
Typically, counseling will be on a weekly basis, but this will depend solely
on the needs of the client whether more or less counseling is
warranted.
-
If at
any time an emergency arises between sessions, the video counselor can be
reached via cell phone.
-
Most
importantly, video counseling is exactly like face-to-face counseling only
the counselor and client aren't in the same room.
